2015—2018. After capturing the portraits of others in the Close Medium Wide series, this collection returns to the roots of the first self-portrait series, divorcing itself from the whimsical to focus on more abstract and direct studies of the body, exhibiting it in all its forms. A reaction to being framed and captured by others, Rolando captures himself in visual and sonic form, recording several songs, many of which have never been released.
THIS SERIES IS A CONTINUATION OF SELF-PORTRAITS I
2013—2015. This project begins with the release of But none of these hands are yours, an EP of two self-produced tracks (“I’m Ready” / “Freedom”) and a cover (“Llorando”). Produced during the first self-portrait series, this music reflects the visuals that Rolando created during this time, putting sound to image. The artwork was extensively developed, with earlier versions of it created in preceding years, culminating with the self-portrait taken in the release year.
